The oil and gas sector has marked institutional and business milestones in the history of Colombia that have allowed the country to consolidate a leading and competitive industry that furthers the country’s economic and social development, contributing significant resources that are evident in the development of regions and in the well-being of the communities.
Crude was first discovered in 1918 in the La Cira-Infantas field (Barrancabermeja), which marked the course of oil in Colombia. In 2018, the oil industry celebrates 100 years of existence in the country. A fact that should be highlighted by the actors that have helped achieve national and international recognition.
For this reason, the business and professional associations of engineering, oil and gas of Colombia have chosen to congregate their most important events at the Oil and Gas Summit to commemorate 100 years of this important industry.
The I Oil and Gas Summit will bring together more than 5,000 national and international attendees, with the main purpose of commemorating the first 100 years of the presence of the oil sector in Colombia, and thus celebrating the important economic contribution of the oil sector to the country´s sustainable development, and analyzing the current landscape of and future outlook for the industry.
The summit will offer an academic agenda and a technical agenda, with high-level national and international speakers, which will allow attendees to learn first-hand about oil opportunities in Colombia.
Additionally, the largest trade fair in the sector will be held during the Summit. Industry companies will be able to generate new business opportunities and build commercial relationships.
The I Summit will also hosted a Regional Hall, a space where national and local authorities, communities and companies can meet to engage in constructive dialogue to identify specific actions that contribute to sustainable development and the viability of the projects.
This event, organized by “Comité Gremial Petrolero -CGP-“ (the Oil Industry Committee), will include celebration of and a reflection on the Colombian oil industry’s first 100 years. It will convene business associations and oil and gas experts with the common goal of continuing their efforts to promote a sector that is strategic for the sustainable development of the country.
